Rail Travel Tours, in conjunction with Canada’s National History Society can take you to view the fantastic scenery and the fall colours of Ontario’s Superior region with great heritage experiences on a tour offered no where else. We travel roundtrip from Toronto through the Muskoka region and into the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield to Temagami by rail then board a bus to Sudbury where we explore world class attractions such as Dynamic Earth. Then board VIA's LAKE SUPERIOR isolated rail service to travel through the picturesque and rugged Superior Region to White River, where past tours have seen moose in the swamps, bears in the woods and forests full of colour. Bring lots of film and a sense of adventure as the fall colours and northern hospitality await you.

WHAT THE TOUR INCLUDES:
  • DAY 1 - THURSDAY Morning meet & greet at Toronto's Union Station. Journey on Ontario Northland Railway's NORTHLANDER from Toronto to North Bay through the scenic Muskoka region of lakes and cottages to view forests full of colour and other highlights along the way. Transfer the short distance from North Bay to Sudbury with a visit to the Northern Ontario Railway Museum. Overnight downtown Sudbury overlooking the city skyline.

  • DAY 2 - FRIDAY Visit Sudbury's Dynamic Earth attraction for a guided tour to learn about the areas heritage and nickel mining through the years. Opportunity to visit the popular Science North Centre and free time to explore/shop Sudbury. Presentations, right in the hotel, for the group by distinguished Sudbury photographers showcasing images of "The 4 seasons of Sudbury & Region". Overnight downtown Sudbury overlooking the city skyline.

  • DAY 3 - SATURDAY Journey on VIA's LAKE SUPERIOR Rail Diesel Car service on the CPR mainline to White River through the rugged "Superior" Region of Ontario. Fantastic views of pristine wilderness and small communities that are only accessible from the train we will travel on. After arriving in White River enjoy a community organized "Fall/Potluck Supper" meal (included) at White River. Overnight (Saturday) at a choice hotel in White River.

  • DAY 4 - SUNDAY Visit the White River Museum and presentations on the area's history with notable displays on "Winnie the Pooh" who came from the area. Travel onon VIA's eastbound LAKE SUPERIOR to Sudbury again viewing the scenery along Lake Windermere and watching for wildlife along the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve and more. Overnight again in Sudbury.

  • DAY 5 - MONDAY Morning transfer to North Bay and once here the group will enjoy a guided tour of the Dion Quintuplets Museum and Tourism Centre. There will also be an opportunity to visit and shop in North Bay. Journey on the ONR's NORTHLANDER back to Toronto. Again travel through the scenic Muskoka Region of lakes and cottages before scheduled to arrive this evening back in downtown Toronto for the end of this relaxing rail tour experience.
