Rail Travel Tours and Canada's National History Society offers a remarkable Canadian learning heritage experience summer tour, in Northern Ontario, offered nowhere else. Roundtrip from Toronto travelling on Ontario Northland Railway's NORTHLANDER to Cochrane and POLAR BEAR EXPRESS to historic Moose Factory; home of the oldest speaking English community in Ontario, and the second Hudson Bay Company site established in North America. This 5 day 4 night tour features daytime rail trips and hotel accommodations every night including the Cochrane Train Station Inn and Moose Factory Eco-lodge. The tour will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Cochrane and include visits to the Polar Bear Habitat, the Hunta Museum, Cochrane Art Gallery, the 1850 built HBC staff house & heritage site, and Cree cultural Interpretive Centre. The package includes hotel stays, rail trips transfers, heritage attractions, behind the scenes tours, some meals, special presentations, detailed tour information kit and more.

WHAT THE TOUR INCLUDES:

DAY 1 - SUNDAY Morning meet & greet at Toronto's Union Station. Journey on ONR's NORTHLANDER to Northern Ontario travelling through the scenic Muskoka region and past historic communities such as Cobalt, New Haileybury and Englehart. Overnight Cochrane and the historic Cochrane Train Station Inn.
DAY 2 - MONDAY After enjoying breakfast at the Train Station Inn Restaurant the group will board the Polar Bear Express with its dome cars to offer unparallel views of the changing scenery. While onboard the train the group will enjoy lunch in the train's dining car. Arrive at the community of Moosonee to transfer across the river to Moose Factory and the modern-eco-lodge located here where everyone will have a private room over looking the Moose River or surrounding forests. Overnight Moose Factory after a welcoming presentation.
DAY 3 - TUESDAY The group will experience Canadian history this morning first hand with a tour of Moose Factory including visits to the Hudson Bay Company 1850 built staff house and Cree Culture Interpretive Centre among other locations in the area. Return across the river to Moosonee to tour this historic community and visit attractions such as the Revillon Freres Museum, former radar base and others before transferring to the train station. Board the train destined for Cochrane and enjoy dinner in the diner before heading to the Entertainment Car for a live show. Overnight at the Cochrane Station Inn.
DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY After enjoying breakfast at the Train Station Inn Restaurant the group will enjoy a guided bus tour of the town including the Hunta Museum, Polar Bear Habitat, Tim Horton museum, tour of the ONR Shops and more. Lunch will be enjoyed at the Ehkwateh Art Gallery (largest native art gallery in Northern Ontario) and those on the tour will again overnight at the Cochrane Station Inn.
DAY 5 - THURSDAY After enjoying breakfast at the Train Station Inn Restaurant the group will again board the train to travel south back to Toronto for the last day of this historic and fun trip taking with them fond memories of Northern Ontario.
