The Arctic is easily accessible to you on this travel package that will see you journey from Winnipeg to Churchill, Manitoba to take part in the annual Polar Bear Migration. The tour includes roundtrip rail transportation, bedroom accommodation on the train (4 nights in total) and in the town of Churchill (2 night hotel stay). Travelling on the world Famous Tundra Buggy along the shore of Hudson Bay is always a highlight. Also the tour includes station to hotel transfers and town and area tour as well as visits to local attractions and time to shop the many boutiques in town. WHAT THE TOUR INCLUDES:
- DAY 1 - Sunday - October 10, 2010 Mid-Day departure from Winnipeg on VIA's Winnipeg to Churchill, or more commonly known - HUDSON BAY, train in your reserved sleeping car cabin and enjoy the passing scenery of prairies and Riding Mountain National Park. Bon Voyage reception in the train's lounge car for those in the group. The route travels just over the border into the province of Saskatchewan before returning to Manitoba on a Northerly direction towards Hudson Bay. Overnight on the train
- DAY 2 - Monday - October 11, 2010 This morning as the chef in the dinning car prepares breakfast for the passengers you awake to different views of the boreal forest and Canadian Shield. Stretch your legs on the platform in Thompson Manitoba before continuing north through isolated communities only accessible by this train. Make sure you have your camera ready as the train passes bird sanctuaries, large lakes and vast forests along the way all detailed in the route guide we provide for you. Overnight on the train.
- DAY 3 - Tuesday - October 12, 2010 This morning the view outside your window on the train has changed again as you overlook the Tundra as you get close to the shores of Hudson Bay. Arrive Churchill to be greeted and taken on a special tour of the town and Arctic Coast region (and your luggage will be transferred to the hotel) to be shown where the best shopping and attractions are located in this unique northern community. Overnight at Churchill hotel.
- DAY 4 - Wednesday - October 13, 2010 After enjoying Breakfast at the hotel A better part of the day will be on the world famous Tundra Buggy along the shore of Hudson Bay to search for the migrating Polar Bears that come here to wait for the freezing of Hudson Bay. Lunch will be served right on the Buggy at mid-day. The driver of the Buggy will also explain the wildlife and fragile eco-system of the area. Overnight Churchill hotel.
- DAY 5 - Thursday - October 14, 2010 Today will be the opportunity to visit many of the Churchill Attractions, fantastic souvenir shops and boutiques for memorable souvenirs. There will be a farewell to Churchill supper this evening prior to boarding and travelling south on the Churchill to Winnipeg train more commonly known as the HUDSON BAY in your reserved sleeping car cabin. Overnight on the train.
- DAY 6 - Friday - October 15, 2010 Travel day on the southbound train. Make sure you have your camera ready as you cross high above the Nelson River. Evening group reception on the train as we talk about our tour experience and again overnight on the train.
- DAY 7 - Saturday - October 16, 2010 Awake this morning to the view outside your window of the fertile fields of the Red River valley for the scheduled train's arrival back in Winnipeg this afternoon after a relaxing and unique wildlife viewing and rail experience.
